Community Information
I have been a Vancouver Real Estate agent for a number of years and there are certain neighbourhoods that I have come to know very well, and they are Shaughnessy, Fairview, and Little Australia.
For more information on schools, parks, and community information for these area's please see below.
Shaughnessy
In 1885, Vancouver’s provincial government gave the Canadian Pacific Railway 6000 acres of land that was located in the heart of the city. Known today as the area of Shaughnessy, this community grew into a prestigious residential area. The neighbourhood was intended to lure the elite group of the city away from the West End.
Fairview
Fairview began as a land surrounded by an overgrowing forest and with the hopes of developing the area, much of the forest was replaced during constructions. In 1887 the Canadian Pacific Railway placed their terminals on the north side of the Creek as well as built shipyards, sawmills, shingle mills, and many woodworking plants. At the request of the Vancouver city Council they planned the placement of their buildings so that they could keep as much forest as possible.
Little Australia
Little Australia is located between University Blvd. and Chancellor Blvd, and between Blanca Street and the UBC Endowment Lands. It is a small but beautiful community next door to the University land and the UBC Golf Course.
